This set of four SP (Siege en Plastique) chairs feature vert-colored powder-coated sheet and tubular steel frames with a gray-colored seat and backrest made of robust ASA plastic in a fine textured finish. The design highlights Prouvé’s engineering insight – the front legs are made of lighter tubular steel since they bear less weight, while the back legs are constructed with voluminous hollow sections to support the user’s upper body weight and transfer the stress to the floor. <\/p>\n

Prouvé’s goal was to make functional yet aesthetically pleasing designs accessible through industrial production methods. The Standard SP chair exemplifies his innovative use of materials and construction techniques inspired by automotive and aviation industries. <\/p>\n
