In 1947, together with fellow designers Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi dell’Acqua, he founded Azucena. The brand, named after a flower, was active for many years in the field of high-end design for residential and contract projects. After a stop of several years, Azucena has now been revived, and continues to produce the pieces for which it became known in the past; however, it’s original pieces that still drive collectors mad at auction and on the vintage market.
The present pair of LP10 lamps, nicknamed “Bidoni” (“bins”, for their shape resembles a milkman’s bin), is indeed part of the early production as details – and patina – suggest. The glass shades are likely original, and however are exactly matching the originals in shape, length and diameter. The lamps are fully functional, and have recently been revired by a professional electrician to ensure safety during use.
