Vintage Design
Beautiful ‘Osaka’ chair designed by Emiel Veranneman and manufactured by De Coene, Belgium 1968. The Osaka dining chair was designed by Emiel Veranneman and usd at the Belgian pavilion at the Wold Exhibition 1970 in Osaka, Japan. with its round backrests the chair has a unique, and typical traditional Flemish woodwork with Asian influences. The dark stained and lacquered oakwood makes a mystical match with the dark brown leather upholstery which is still fully original and has a very nice and unique patina. The chair is in very good original condition with normal wear from age and usage which is visible on the pictures. Emiel Veranneman was internationally known as an interior and furniture designer. In 1974 he established his own foundation at Kruishoutem where his own work, and also the work of national and international artists, was shown. Very hard to find chair as this was only made on request and was very expensive at the time. Emiel Veranneman is one of the most important designers from Belgium, thats why he was asked to do the Belgian pavilion in Osaka in 1970.
