Parker Furniture began as ‘Dagger and Parker’, a partnership formed between craftsman Alf Dagger, and salesman Jack Parker, after the depression era. From humble beginnings, the company quickly grew, making government tender furniture. Originally, the company made mainly traditional style furniture – reproductions of antique or art deco styles. In the mid 1940s, Tony Parker was plucked out of school by his father, and after some time spent studying industrial design and honing his skills working at department store John Lewis in London, Tony was put to work in the family business, where he was forever destined to shake things up. JW Parker, later known as Parker Furniture, is a most famous Australia’s furniture brand, founded in 1935 by Jack Parker.
