Vintage Design
Large ‘Pyramid’ table designed by Wim Rietveld and produced in the Netherlands by Ahrend de Cirkel in 1959. The overall condition is good, but as you can see on the pictures, the table has a fair patina which we think looks lovely and only gives an industrial piece like this more character. It has a fantastic shaped structure, V shaped frame in dark grey painted metal. And a very nice original formica top which is very nice looking on this table, very similar to the designs by Jean Prouve. Despite having been used intensely, the frame isn’t bent or twisted. The top size is 140×70 cm. Since the tables are stackable, the with of the frame is wider than the top. The chair is not included in this listing but can be purchased separately with it. The table is marked Ahrend de Cirkel on the structure. This table won a ”Signe d’Or” in 1960 which is a very special design awards that emerged in Europe in the 1950s, the Signe d’Or Industriel (Het Gouden Kenteken) sought to award ‘leading design’ from the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg). As a Benelux-wide award it only had four editions, from 1956 to 1960.
