Noguchi designed a series of lamps starting in the 1950s, this 22N Akari designed in 1968 is a beautiful example of his “light sculptures”. Made in Gifu, Japan by Ozeki & Co. using handmade washi paper and bamboo ribbing, and supported by a metal frame, this form is supported by four legs with ball feet. The scale allows it to work beautifully either on a table, or on the floor.
The lamp is marked with the ‘Sun and Moon’ ideogram as well as Noguchi signature. It is in very good original condition.
