Beautiful early Murano hand blown Sommerso cobalt blue and gold flecks Italian art glass women with sun hat figure / sculpture. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, for V.A.M.S.A (Vetri Artistici Muranesi Societá Anonima) circa 1930s. The blue core has thin layer of tiny bubbles, the “Sfumatto” technique, and shows aurene, iridescent colors from the inside when the light hits is just right (see close up photo of the pants). She is wearing a large picture hat (or cartwheel hat), revived in the 1930s, when it was worn by Mae West in “She Done Him Wrong”, 1933. Great contrast to the straight lines of her Palazzo pants, on a sunny vacation or ride into the country. Would make a great display piece on any vanity, dresser or curio cabinet. Art Deco, Mid-century era. Measurements: 8 3/8″ tall x 4″ long x 3″ wide.
