Elegant Italian desk convertible into sewing machine from the 1950s. The desk through its shapes and lines is very reminiscent of Gio Ponti’s design line. The desk is made by the Vigorelli ( of Pavia) manufactory. The small desk has in the left side five pull-out drawers and the top one has a key. In the right leg we have a door that can be opened by knob with the sewing machine mechanism inside. At the base we find a cast-iron riser that allowed easy movement of the mechanism by foot pedals. The table top rises and through a mechanism retracts inside the desk allowing the sewing machine to be pulled out. Once the top is raised we find another storage compartment that allows the sewing machine to be pulled out. The sewing machine is still intact but the thread mechanism needs to be fixed because it is now worn.
Being transformable the desk is excellent both as a writing table but also as a piece of furniture for designer living rooms. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. The desk is in its original condition, the wood has scratches.

We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely original circa 1920s fully stamped Hennes Fils Constructeur 12 Rue Talensac nantes French Butchers table with bronzed mounts and gallery glass top A sublime table with a one of a kind restoration. The table came to me as you see it after being restored by Alex from “The Restorers” Drew Pritchard’s spin off TV show to Salvage Hunters Alex glued and clamped the top block then had made these custom mounts using plaster I think it was mixed with real bronze powder, they then had a glass gallery top made so the piece can be used as a normal occasional or kitchen work table. We further restored the piece by fully worm treating it three times, securing the base frame joints and lastly re aligning the drawers. The piece is now fully restored and ready for the new owner Other than the above the timber has been deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished. Beautiful rustic old bakery table from southern France, around 1900. This table is made of beech wood and has a thick leaf. We have cleaned the beautiful wooden table top and chassis, sanded lightly and polished. To keep the table as rustic and natural as possible, we did not treat the wood with wax but with a thin transparent layer. So that the color of the wood remains as natural as possible and not discolored. The legroom between the ground and the lower edge of the table has a height of approximately 68 cm. A particularly beautiful specimen that will not be out of place in a large kitchen, kitchen, living room or cafe/restaurant.
