Highly rare original pair of hunting chairs designed by W.D. Andersag and manufactured by Piacenza in Italy in 1959. The chairs have a stunning original patinated cognac leather. This patina makes them even more special and unique in their character. These super shaped lounge chairs have a warm solid teak wooden frame and a natural leather seat. The leather seat is held by leather cords that go through the frame on the sides. The stretched leather seat is very comfortable with the feather filled cushions for extra comfort when seating. Also the head cushion adds great comfort. A nice detail are the partly leather wrapped armrests. Stunning structure and outstanding patina from age and usage. Le Corbusier Lounge Chair LC4 For Cassina, Cognac Leather,Italy

Iconic model F572 lounge chair designed by Pierre Paulin and manufactured by Artifort, The Netherlands 1967. The F572 is a rare piece, with production limited to the period of 1967 to 1968 and it’s no longer being made today. It has a beautiful sculptural shape, Pierre Paulin’s skills as a sculptor shine through in this chair offering not only aesthetic appeal but also perfect seating. The design is timeless and kind of resembles a little flower unfolding. It’s reupholstered in a yellow Tonus fabric by Kvadrat so the chair is in excellent condition. Pierre Paulin was born in Paris in 1927, he had a French father and a German-speaking Swiss mother. He trained to be a ceramist in Vallauris and then a stone-carver in Burgundy but got into a fight and injured his right arm ending his dreams as a sculptor, forcing him to switch gears to design and study at École Camondo in Paris. Relations with the Gascoin company, he would gain interest in Scandinavian and Japanese design which would influence his works later on. Pierre Paulin had his debut exhibition at the Salon des arts ménagers in 1953. Afterwards, he would appear on the cover of the magazine La Maison Francaise. A year later he would be employed by the Thonet company and began experimenting with stretching swimwear materials over traditionally made chairs. Around 4 years later he would join the Maastricht-based Dutch manufacturers Artifort where he is best known for his innovative designs as the Mushroom Chair (1959), the Ribbon Chair (1966) and the Tongue chair (1968) that used foams and metallic frames with stretch materials and clear lines that cradled the body. The combination of these materials made Paulin’s chair designs rounder, and comfortable shapes that are still being used in chairs today. At his time working for Artifort, Paulin quoted “It represented the first full expression of my abilities. I considered the manufacture of chairs to be rather primitive and I was trying to think up new processes” he said in 2008. Paulin was also highly influential and involved in French design through the 1970s. Clearly influenced by his training as a sculptor and his German roots as well as the work of early modernists, Paulin was even more impacted by the work of George Nelson and Charles Eames and the significance of the social component of modern design. Rare and amazing pair of easy chairs by Martin Visser for ‘t Spectrum, Holland, 1964. These chairs are model SZ02, documented in several books and catalogues by ‘t Spectrum as model SZ02. These were only produced from 1964-1965 so they are very hard to find. The chairs have brushed steel tubular frames, black leather arm rests and newly upholstered seats like it original was with Ploegwool fabric, this fabric was the closest we could find to the original fabric. Comfort seating and splendid effluence. Fantastic pair of modernist chairs, brought back to perfect condition with preservation of authenticity. The original black leather arms have some wear but we preferred to keep them original. I don’t think we have to explain why Rietveld used these chairs in one of his last designed interiors in 1964. Rare prototype side chair designed by Martin Visser and manufactured by ’t Spectrum Bergeyk 1988. This chair is the pre production of model number SE20 and was eventually made in several color combinations. This is a fully hand-painted blue example in very nice original condition. This chair comes from thee state of a former Spectrum employee who took this chair from a stock sale in the early 1990. The chair is made of plywood and is quite heavy. Partly hollow and assembled with bolts. Very nice deep blue color, the color that was later on used to produce it in. The chair is signed at the bottom with pencil; P1 which probably means prototype nr 1. Have a look at the other red and blue one we have in stock, which are identical chairs but differently finished. Iconic so called ‘Lady chair’ designed by Marco Zanuso and manufactured by Arflex, Italy, 1951. This lady chair has chrome-plated legs and original upholstery in grey. The upholstery is in amazing condition still and the foam is excellent too. This is a very comfortable easy chair from Marco Zanuso. Marked with the Arflex tag on the back of the chair.

These two lounge chairs have their original leather upholstery which is quite rare for these chairs. The condition of the leather and foam is still excellent. Sculptural pair of model 790 chairs designed by Joseph-André Motte and manufactured by Steiner, France 1960. These chairs have a cool boomerang-shaped structure made of solid blond beech wood. The frame is super simple but has awesome details. The vertical back frame is connected to the horizontal one with a diagonal metal bar. The seat and back are held by a sling seat design. The cushions are really comfy, and they’ve been reupholstered in an off-white bouclé fabric, just like the original design. French furniture manufacturer Steiner is an internationally recognized furniture company that has collaborated with world renowned designers for the past ninety years, creating modern classics. Charles Steiner was born in 1894 in Bucharest, Romania. He moved to Paris, where he was drawn into the principles of functionalism and the Bauhaus. In 1926 founded his eponymous furniture company in the Parisian suburb of Faubourg St. Antoine. He understood the significance of the modernist and functionalist movements and his designs were hugely influenced byLe Corbusier and Mallet Stevens In 1930, his Constance Chair which featured nickel-plated tubular legs, went into production. Steiner collaborated with the French Avant-garde designer Etienne-Henri Martin, and together the pair designed the SK140 Armchair. Shortly after World War II, Steiner moved away from functionalist design, focusing instead on more contemporary styles that accentuated comfort and user-interaction, utilizing bold colors and curved forms. Rare pair of MP-5 lounge chairs designed by Percival Lafer and manufactured by Lafer MP, Brazil 1961. Steel structures covered with Caviuna. Reupholstered in a grey mixed fabric to their original upholstery pattern. The steel legs cased with wood give it a lighter appearance. According to Percival “there is just a slim piece of wood supporting the piece because of the steel soul.” These armchairs have a minimalistic appearance to them due to the cubic frame where also the wooden armrests are attached to. He used the same seat as for the MP-1 lounge chair. The Mp-1 series was Percival Lafer’s first design, and the first piece of furniture with the Lafer brand. This demonstrates that the principles of rationalization of production and optimization of resources were already present in Percival’s first design. Lafer studied architecture at São Paulo’s Universidade Mackenzie. After he graduated, his father passed away suddenly, leaving a furniture business that Lafer took over with his brothers. Taking up the mantle, Lafer made the jump from architecture to furniture design in 1961, putting a focus on thoughtfully designed pieces.
