Vintage Design
This pair doesn’t have a producer label but they are believed to be designed and produced by ULUV in former Czechoslovakia.
ULUV Company was established at the end of 1945 with the main goal of supporting traditional Czech folk art and craft. Throughout the second part of the 20th century, ULUV produced products by many different artists and designers in various homeware and design categories.
The influence of the tradition Czech folk and craft can be clearly seen on this pair as well. While the sharp angled dynamic forms of the top and bottom parts of the shelf are in the style of the 1960’s Mid Century movement, the plaited wood at the back of the upper part takes an inspiration from the traditional Czech craft. This combination works very well and together with a brown honeycomb colour of the wood it creates a lovely overall design that has still shouts quality some 60 years after being produced. The size of the shelfs is perfect for storing books, flowers, decorative object or lights.
Both shelves are in great vintage condition without any damage but with some light wear and tear gained from the use over the years. They can be easily fixed to the wall and are foldable which allows the shelfs to be comfortably transport or stored when necessary.
