Noguchi’s Akari series was started in 1951. Model 20A was designed c. 1954. This is an early model, marked with iconic red sun and moon ideogram. This specific model/size (19.5” diameter) was only produced for a short period. Its size is between what is now the 45A and 55A.

Washi paper, bamboo, enameled cast iron. Cast manufacturer’s mark to underside of each base ‘Made in Japan’. All original hardware.
