Vintage Design
Very nice “Revolt” chair designed by Friso Kramer for Ahrend de Cirkel, The Netherlands 1953. This chair has an original folded light grey lacquered metal frame and a red ciranol seat and back. It features a transparent construction of clear lines and simple geometrical shapes, ‘less is more’ as Kramer would predicate. This chair has a very nice patina from several years of usage, this gives them a nice industrial look. It seats really comfortable and is in good original condition. A real nice catch for any modern home, office or interior.
The designs of Friso Kramer are highly sought after because of their progressive designs. Even though this chair was designed in 1953, this is still in production at Ahrend. with few modern changes to the materials but the shape is still identical. Friso Kramer was a functionalist, all of his pieces are well thought about and amazingly executed. Even though most of his designs were produced in large numbers the process before that was really intense and time taking. And the result of that was a great production process with fantastic ergonomic result.
